The Premium Pylon Road Sign:

Premium Pylon road signs are made with premium materials and finished to look as smart and polished as possible with smooth ACM cladding and illuminated signage elements. Because of this they are one of the more expensive kind of road signs you can invest in, but premium is made to last and look top class.

This type of pylon is very popular with branded car dealers that really want to show off the value of the brand with a show-stopping illumination. Pylons add a lot of value to large commercial properties and office centres where visitors and employees need to find there way. Malls and shopping centres also get the best bang for buck with a premium road signs, using them as promotional tools and a wayfinding assistance at the same time.

Plinth and Pylon premium signage has the advantage of being visible both at night and during the day. This is ideal for businesses who are open at night, or that have a valuable target audience after hours that they need to build brand awareness with.

The Standard Pylon Road Sign:

This is a step down to the premium option but can still include more simple illuminated features and options for finishing, design and shape. With the right design, it is still possible to achieve a premium feel on a standard pylon road sign.

The base frame is mostly the same, but with fewer and simpler dressings that work well with a minimal aesthetic appeal. The cladding will be simpler too, keeping to less complicated forms like the Nido pylon we fabricated and installed last year.

  • Day Time Visibility/legibility – 5/5
  • Aesthetic Appeal – 5/5
  • Customisability – 5/3

Basic or Economy Pylon:

Premium or not, a pylon is a very large road sign (up to 9m) that requires structural engineering and firm anchoring to the ground. The basic version of a pylon has no cladding and serves to accommodate interchangeable panel signs.

This pylon road sign option is ideal for shared commercial spaces and functions mostly as a wayfinding sign. It is great for small to medium-sized businesses that offer specialised services to other businesses as they often don’t get a lot of value from promoting outside of hours with fancy illumination and a polished pylon design. Although, it is possible to use uplighting to make the pylon a little more visible at night time.

  • Night Time Visibility/legibility – 5/1
  • Day Time Visibility/legibility – 5/3
  • Aesthetic Appeal – 5/1
  • Customisability – 5/2

Great for:

  • B2B companies.
  • Commercial shared spaces.
  • Suppliers and warehouses

Premium Plinth Road Sign:

If you are looking for wayfinding signage for your business space in a stylish way that really adds to the user and brand experience then this is the signage your business needs.

Because plinths are a lot smaller in size (up to 3m high), they don’t need intensive structural engineering to ensure stability and safety. Although they do need to be well anchored, similar to the pylon road signs. This type of premium sign could be described as a smaller version of the premium pylon because it can still accommodate a wide range of illuminated signage options with the very specialised fabrication of the shape and size options.

These plinths are great if you need to add a wayfinding map to a space that illuminates like a lightbox so that people can find their way at night too. This is also a very practical option for public transport systems because there is a lot of room for customised and interchangeable solutions that can be legible both day and night for commuters.

We used premium illuminated signage in our plinth road signs for MG to help customers find their way and promote the MG brand using halo illumination. These plinths almost add to the grandeur of the giant pylon sign out at the front by mirroring it on a smaller scale.

Standard Plinth Road Sign:

Also a miniature version of the standard pylon, but with more capacity to showcase and relay more information.

The average plinth is just over regular human height which makes the information displayed on the plinth eye level. This means that a standard plinth is better for wayfinding and more detailed messages like pointing out access routes and safety messages that can be displayed in a stylish way that is on-brand.

Much like the standard pylon, this standard plinth can accommodate illuminated features which makes them useful at night too. Many of our client’s pair uplighting with a standard illuminated plinth to achieve a more premium feel.

Economy or Basic Plinth:

This type of plinth is fabricated out of necessity and functionality, and are generally temporary signage solutions that can be easily changed out for relevant messaging.

A great example of this kind of plinth is the one we fabricated and installed for Sotheby’s Reality for the properties they are trying to sell. They are great event notice boards and construction site safety signage too – there are many practical uses for a basic plinth! Despite not having any cladding, this option has the ability to look quite premium with the right digitally printed graphics and design. We can even incorporate some simple lights to make the temporary road sign more visible at night.
